History
Kirsten Nicole Thurlow was born on July 23rd, 1983 to college students, James Thurlow and Helen Tyree, and brought about the beginnings of the struggles in their relationship. While James continued his education, Helen, decided she would quit school to focus on other things; her daughter’s best interest wasn’t one of those things. Although she did have a close relationship with her grandparents, it was the birth’s of her siblings that pushed Kirsten out of childhood and into adulthood as she found herself caring more for the younger Thurlow’s than her mother had. As a teenager the often thought good-two-shoes developed a rebellious streak and started dating the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, Adrian Stone, in 1996. They had been childhood friends and James allowed Adrian into their home unbiased. When the duo entered High School, however, they called things off and Adrian became interested in Gail Schmidt. With her ego bruised Kirsten finally gave into football jock, Kent Wallace’s, advances and gave him her virginity -- completely destroying what remaining friendship she had with Adrian.
Despite her rocky upbringing, Kirsten developed the drive to succeed in the business industry just like her father had. She decided to stay in Stone Creek and attended Stone Creek Community College so that she could look after her siblings. After a failed attempt as a waitress she took a job alongside her father as a file clerk. Kent became a fixation for Kirsten once again but things burned slow for the couple and when she took her aunt Shannon Jurado up on an offer to go to Paris, France for the Summer, Kirsten promised she would come back to Kent. While in Paris, Kirsten met a mysterious and charming man, named Gavin Archambault, and agreed to go on a date with him. After the date, however, he attempted to rape Kirsten and the young woman was rescued by Charlie Sutton -- the two began a summer romance that left Kirsten pregnant with his child.
Kirsten came back home to Stone Creek and realized who Charlie actually was, this partnered with the fact that she found out she was pregnant with his child caused her to panic. She tried covering her tracks by taking her relationship with Kent to the next level and passing the baby off as his. On May 8th, 2003, Kirsten gave birth to Megan Nicole Wallace and tried to move on from her fling with Charlie. Business savvy Kirsten was able to acquire a cafe from a couple wanting to travel the world and she renamed it Alice’s Haven Cafe, after the woman who had intrigued Kirsten as a child. Three years after Megan was born, Kent stumbled upon a postcard from Charlie that stated her fling. He became angered with Kirsten and broke things off with her when he asked her if Megan was Charlie’s she couldn’t find it in her to lie to Kent and although he was devastated, he insisted that Kirsten keep it a secret so he could continue to help raise the baby girl he had become attached to.
In 2008, Charlie Sutton came back to Stone Creek to help his father with Sutton Enterprises and he was stunned to see Kirsten in Stone Creek as well. Neither had talked about their families before and admitted that he sent the postcard to her cousin, Imogene, in order for it to get to Kirsten. Kent Wallace grew nervous that Kirsten would tell Charlie the truth about Megan. As the two became closer, Kirsten began to have returning feelings for Charlie. The truth came out about Megan when Kent finally gave up hope that Kirsten would come back to him and instead told Charlie about Megan and left town. Leaving Kirsten and Charlie in the middle of a feud that had started in the Thurlow and Sutton families years ago. Charlie stood by Kirsten’s side and they married in 2009, Megan’s last name being changed to Sutton later that year. But Charlie’s father, Patrick Sutton, was infuriated and tried desperately to break the couple up. In the end, Charlie left his father’s side with the last of his inheritance he purchased the Lakeside Inn and a cottage in Boulstridge Mountains for his small family. Kirsten was enamored with her new life.
Start of the Series...
The following year in 2010 the couple began the major overhaul of the Lakeside Inn. Since the previous owners let go of the upkeep for the once boisterous Inn, there was a lot of work to be done. Kirsten and Charlie’s relationship began to strain from the constant stress of the remodel. So Kirsten thought it might be best to ask Patrick back into her husband’s life in order to help not only with the remodel but to give Megan a more stable upbringing. This would anger Charlie and help cause a wedge between the two.
Adrian Stone arrived back in Stone Creek in later 2010, months after Gail Schmidt had done so. This opened old wounds for Kirsten as she was forced to face her first love. Although they had flirted a bit, it became apparent that Adrian was only in town to make things work with Gail. While on a playdate with Caitlyn, Megan had gone missing. This brought Charlie and Kirsten closer once again. When it was Damien Crenshaw that found Megan, Kirsten became suspicious of the man’s true motives and immediately felt that Caitlyn needed to stay away from the man. Kirsten would go on to pressuring Caitlyn to place a restraining order against Damien in order for her father, James, to have a peace of mind. Luckily, this didn’t cause any damage to the bond that Kirsten and Caitlyn had been forging. Kirsten would later drop trying to bring Patrick back into their lives and instead helped her husband focus on the Lakeside Inn.
News came in 2011, that her aunt had passes away. Shannon Thurlow Jurado had been a huge supporter in Kirsten and Charlie and had at times helped raise Kirsten as a child. The Thurlow clan headed to Paris, France to pay their respects. When Marina refused to make the trip, this infuriated Kirsten but convinced her sister to watch Megan while they were gone. The trip to Paris helped remind Kirsten of why she fell in love with Charlie as they were able to reminisce about a time when he had become her savior. Kirsten had always been closer to her younger cousin, Aidan, and even helped disclose the fact that he was bisexual. After the truth came out that Shannon had been murdered in the car explosion it was Kirsten and Charlie who fought for Aidan’s freedom. He later confessed to everyone that he had been working for Edward Rayburn, the man responsible for the explosion. Aidan’s father, Mathias Jurado was furious and subsequently fired Aidan from Thurlow-Jurado Overseas. Aidan opted to return with Kirsten to the states and leave Paris behind. Charlie gave Aidan a job at the Lakeside Inn.
When it became apparent that Damien Crenshaw was only overwhelming Caitlyn’s life, Kirsten insisted on keeping Megan home as much as possible so that her step-mother could regain her life. Helen decided this was the perfect time to come back into her daughter’s life and insisted that Kirsten let Helen care for Megan while Kirsten paid her attention to the Cafe. Kirsten agreed until Halloween of 2011 when Megan accidentally let it slip that Helen had chosen her work over Megan’s safety. This upset Kirsten who closed Helen out of her life once again. Also at the Halloween party at Alice’s Haven Cafe, a pregnant Gail collapsed.
On Christmas Eve of 2011 while visiting Charlene Sutton at the Holly Oak Manor, Kirsten, Charlie and Megan found the older woman faced down and near death from an alcohol overdose. Worried about her daughter -- who had witnessed the ordeal -- Kirsten moved Megan into her father’s home in order for Charlene to move into the cabin. Charlie insisted on helping Charlene with her recovery. Because of her abuse of alcohol, Kirsten refused to let Charlene near Megan. Charlene spent 2012 putting her life back together and Kirsten was happy to see Charlie and his mother bonding. However when Reichen Calbourne came into Charlene’s life, Kirsten and Charlie were cautious of the man and his intentions.
Kirsten saw how Adrian had been stressed about Gail and how she had completely alienated both himself and their daughter, Violet. He unwillingly explained to Kirsten that he wanted return to work so that Gail could spend more time with Violet but he wanted a job where he too could spend time with their daughter. Kirsten lost her assistant manager a couple weeks after the revelation and asked Adrian to work for her at the Cafe. Adrian refused at first but ultimately took Kirsten up on the offer. She also decided to turn the upstairs loft into a daycare so that Violet could attend while both Adrian and Gail were at work. Kirsten’s younger cousin, Dylan Tyree burst into town in late 2012 and Kirsten found herself at odds with her. Dylan insisted that Kirsten had feelings for Adrian, but Kirsten obviously denied it.
After Dylan was ushered out of town with the hopes of starting her music career over, Kirsten spent most of 2014 with her family and working alongside Adrian. Although she wouldn’t let it get to her, she began to have feelings for him once again. Kirsten admitted to finding a box in the loft after the renovations had started. It seemed to belong to someone from long ago who had previously stayed there. Adrian insisted that Kirsten open the box but she was weary of opening something that didn’t belong to her. Finally, after much insistence, she opened it up to find old love letters to Alice Caulfield. This intrigued Kirsten as she had always been so fond of the woman who was once a pillar of character in Stone Creek. This heightened Kirsten’s emotions for Adrian and they made love in the kitchen of the Cafe. Kirsten immediately regretted her decision and decided that she needed to do damage control and confessed to Adrian that she still had feelings for him but that they were both married off. When Gail came dangerously close to figuring out their secret, Kirsten decided to send Megan to boarding school so that she could steer clear from the possible scandal.
